Skierintervention.com Helps Save Skiers and Riders

BOSTON, October 3, 2005--American Ski Company one of the largest operators of alpine ski, snowboard and golf resorts in the United States has joined forces with g8wave, the cutting-edge mobile marketing company, to save friends and family by encouraging them to get out on the slopes more this winter. Developed for American Ski Company by Grove Marketing of Woburn, Ma., the goal of the Skier Intervention Program is to spread the word about the company?s All For One Season Pass as the best deal in Eastern Skiing while providing skiers a fun and interactive way to excite their friends and family about skiing together this winter.

Using the skierintervention.com website, users can create a customized online or mobile "intervention" choosing from an animated supporting cast of interventionists (characters range from a very supportive Molly Coddle to the belligerent Angry Jim) to help deliver their message. Users can choose their favorite American Skiing Company mountain as the setting for the intervention, create their own message to encourage their friends to hit the slopes and have their intervention delivered via email or mobile text message.

The mobile component of the program lets users "intervene" by sending a customized SMS message alerting them that "a friend wants to save you...". User can send messages to as many people as they like. Because the messages arrive from a familiar sender they will have greater impact and yield greater results than traditional marketing messages. And because they are fun and innovative they will be shared from person to person adding a unique viral component to the program. As a reward, people who refer their friends can win prizes including ticket vouchers, ski trips and more by getting their friends to purchase a pass through the site. Mobile text messaging provides an inexpensive and measurable way for marketers to stimulate interest in their special offers and to enhance their brand.

"We feel that the Skier Intervention viral campaign is a great way to help build excitement fir this year?s ski season and awareness of our All for One Pass as the best deal in Eastern skiing" said Peter Troast, VP of marketing and Brand Strategy for American Skiing Company. "Adding the personalized mobile component to this promising campaign will certainly strengthen its immediacy and appeal, while helping us build a useful database to support future marketing efforts."

"The Skier Intervention promotion demonstrates both creative and innovative thinking from Grove Marketing and the American Skiing Company. It?s very exciting to work with companies who view mobile as integral to their future, and we look forward to continuing to work with both organizations on additional products and services that will enhance the skier experience" said Brad Mindich, g8wave CEO and Executive Vice President of Phoenix Media/Communications Group.
